Live With a Local

  • By meeting and interacting with the locals, ambassadors will gain a knowledge of the customs and lifestyles of the locals.
  • Ambassadors can help in the transition to a democratic society, which is slowly happening in Myanmar with the subsequent reduction and elimination of internal conflicts which have plagued the country for a very long time.
  • Assist students in an English class in Yangon and learn about their lives.
  • Have lunch as guests in a remote village near Inle Lake, and walk through remote towns, farms, schools, etc.
  • Have a meal in one of the Inle Lake boatman’s homes.
  • Visit a remote village and farm near Bagan.
  • Enjoy a dinner party with the Bagan locals.
  • Feed the monks on their daily rounds in a monastery in Mandalay.
  • Farewell dinner with the locals in Mandalay.

Sightseeing Highlights

  • Shwedagon Pagoda – the most revered pagoda in Myanmar covered in gold where ambassadors will experience Buddhism.
  • Enter monasteries and nunneries.
  • Experience Yangon’s circular train followed by a visit to a suburban market.
  • Be involved in the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival – considered to be the most spectacular festival in Asia.
  • Use some free time for shopping, massages in Inle Lake, bike rides in Bagan, watching sunrises and sunsets in Bagan, and finding interesting places to eat.
What an incredible tour. To meet and get to know the people was so insightful. This is the way to travel. There were so many ways that we were able to understand their way of life, Buddhism, their food etc. Well done. The best tour I have experienced. - 2014 Ambassador,
